‘Sodam, a Joke’ is part of a long term performance project series called ‘The Haegeum World of Soo-nyun Jeong’ that creates a new entertaining genre of music focused on the development of high quality haegeum songs. Through the collaboration of the haegeum and western instruments, this album aims to present a unique sound world, broadens the scope of the haegeum, and shocases the uniqueness of Korean music globally. Jeong recreated Gyubo Yi’s poem ‘I laugh in the bed’ using cello, piano, and traditional percussion instruments, in order to develop a unique sound world and expand contemporary haegeum possibilities.
