a Daegeum solo piece called “Bird and Poem”.
This album exists solely for this piece of music.
Composed by Lee Geonyong and performed by Park Saneung,
“Bird and Poem (詩)” is a lovely piece that fully conveys
the beauty of birds and poems, and how they are alike,
while expressing the Daegeum’s deep and complex timbre.
In a reality where finding a modern Daegeum solo is difficult,
composer Lee Geonyong’s album containing “Bird and Poem”
will be a key milestone for the history of Daegeum compositions.

About 'Bird And Poem'
Daegum approached me as two images. One is the liveliness moving swiftly like a bird's twitter, while the other is the poetic atmosphere expressed as long respiration. The first image is called 'Bird', and the second one is called 'Poem'. These two images correspond to, communicate with, and resemble each other, while the tracks are being processed since they have been suggested respectively and independently. - Geon Yong Lee

I described the part of the 'Bird' as songs of unsubstantial ideals, as I yearned for freedom after watching a bird's wings, and nature after hearing a bird's chirping. As for the part of the 'Poem', I described it as songs flowing in a human's deep inner side. The two songs intersect and communicate with each other, changing into vacant features at the end. I hope that the sound of the Daegum of this story will provide an empty mind to anyone. - Park Sang Eun

Park Sang Eun is earning a reputation of realizing his own musical world while thoroughly defending the dignity of Korean Music. Currently, she is moving around as a player of Daegum in the KBS Korean Traditional Music Orchestra, furthermore, he is lecturing at Chugye University for the Arts. He released a studio album for Daegum including <Immersed in the Wind> and <Hemmed in by Grace>, in which the depth of his musical area is added more and more through a variety of art collaborations.
