Sim Sang-geon school gayageum sanjo is follows a unique tuning system that sets the lowest tone at a perfect forth lower pitch comparing to the tuning system used in other school gayageum sanjo.

The bright and cheerful mood shows the musicality of Chungcheong-do region, in contrast to the sorrowful feeling that southern provincial sanjo generates with its rolling sound technique in gyemyeonjo mode.

Sim Sang-geon’s old gramophone album and live performance recordings were re-recorded in a reel tape for its storage and kept in the National Gugak Center collection No. D000176.

The music recorded in this album is originated from that sound source, and Kim Jin-kyung also premiered the newly organized melody in her gayageum recital in 2015.
